I decided to create this photo story out of frustration, due to the over-saturation of ‘Instagram-makeup’ flooding my explore page. With the help of my talented friend Bayley Kate, who has an eye for creative makeup, and Maya Crowder, someone I would literally trust with any kind of photographic project- we pulled together 3 eye after dark eye looks that not only anyone can do, but can wear without feeling like a wanna-be Kardashian.
THE BASE: We wanted to keep it as light as possible, keeping the eyes as the focus and leaving the skin fresh, to ensure the looks remained ‘undone’. Begin with a rich moisturiser and massage into the face. Apply an illuminating primer, buff a small amount of light/medium coverage foundation into the skin, and tap concealer only where needed. finish with a liquid illuminator and cream blush for a youthful effect
Products used: Bioderma sensibio light, MAC strobe cream, NARS sheer glow foundation in mont blanc, NARS radiant creamy concealer in chantily, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in opal, Becca beach tint blush in watermelon.
LOOK 1: Apply a base primer all over the lid to neutralise and give staying power to the shadow, blend out and apply a hot pink/red toned shadow all over the lid, using a flat brush to pack the product on, and blending as you go with a clean blending brush, building the product to create a blown-out effect. do the same on the bottom lash line. Use a clear or tinted brow gel to brush brows upwards.
LOOK 2: Use a loose pigment mixed with a clear gloss to great a metallic gloss, messily swipe across the top of the lid. Apply the clear gloss on the high points of the cheek bones and brow bone.
LOOK 3: Prime eyes and apply a metallic, iridescent shadow in the inner corners and inner third of the eye, blending out with a fluffy brush. Slowly, draw a line between the crease and brow bone from the inner corner extending out to almost meet the tail of the brow, joining the line with the outer corner of the eye, creating a v. Clean up with a cotton bud.
